A debut: 2022 is the first vintage of this paraje wine, from 1.17 hectares of old Garnacha at 1,200 metres on north-facing granite in Navatalgordo — the quartz-rich village that also gives El Tamboril. Whole clusters, native yeasts, a gentle two-month infusion without punch-downs, then sixteen months in foudre and concrete. The Wine Advocate opened its account at 95 points, noting the village's grainy, faintly Italianate tannin and a freshness unusual for the year; James Suckling gave it 96. 4,239 bottles, filled in May 2024.
Cellaring perspective
First vintages of Comando G parajes have a habit of being re-read upwards as the vineyard reveals itself — Rumbo al Norte's arc is the precedent. This one is slow to open in the glass today: give it air now or, better, give it years.
